Our new ride!  2009 Nissan Cube.  Pretty funky little car but i think it fits me and my funky crew, lol.

Look at that, not even 24 hours and it's already muddy from going to the park!!

Ace showing off the back.  :)  I ordered a cargo storage unit that will fit in the 'trunk' area to make the entire back level with the seats so I can get my crates back there very nicely.  :)  Was the selling point for the car so I can't wait for it to arrive!!  (Ace is not actually 'tied up' with his leash, i had it on him but it wasn't tired to anything :)

Wit is now almost 4 months old.  I've been so busy with the dogs I haven't had time to post any entries since Wit's arrival.
Wit is doing great.  He's in obedience class and doing well.  He is learning to stay, heeling, sit at halt, come, leave it and he's learning to crawl on command.  He is about 18lbs, 16 inches tall.  He is a litttle tiny guy but he is a big package of fun and energy!  He really loves the frisbee so I'm going to start formal frisbee foundation training (no jumping all ground work) so he can be a little disc dog and maybe we will even be good enough to do some competing with it.  His size makes it easy on me to do some freestyle frisbee training too.  :)  He's a joy and I just love him to bits!  Ace loves him too :)
Here are a few pictures.  He has had floppy ears until last week , they started going out (like airplane ears) Yesterday one was up and tipped but it is back down.  He's teething so I suspect they will start doing some silly things.

Wit is fitting in nicely.  Ace was very reactive to him for the first day but today he has been very good, letting Wit run around him, on top of him and he just lays there.  Such a good boy Ace!!  I'm proud of my big boy.
Wit is doing great with potty training!!  He runs to the door when he has to go out (if he isn't in his xpen)  When he is in his xpen he will whine to be let out.  Really good!

IMG_5690edit.jpg image by Sarhaspups

I haven't done any clicker training yet but he is offering wave like crazy.  LOL.  It's really cute.  He like to play and is now tugging too.  Chew monster!  OUCH!  Sharp teeth but he's doing better already about chewing toys and not my hands.  He loves to follow me around and will circle me as I walk.  He humped my leg while I was walking today??  WTH?!?  Ha ha ha ha.  Bonding with him is going to be a lot of fun, he loves to be held and gives lots of kisses!  Very affectionate and loves to be with me.  :)  He weighs 8.9 lbs and 10 weeks old, a tiny little guy.  Ace was a much bigger structure (11lbs at 10 weeks) so it will be interesting to see how he looks as he matures.  Ace and Wit share the same mama.  Wit might be a little guy  :)
Here are some pictcures of our last 48 hours.   He's finally sleeping right now.  Whew!  Puppy work is hard to get used to again but I think he's going to be a great herding dog and member of our pack.

Here is video of Ace doing the excersises we learned at the Gerry Brown seminar last weekend.

And also a little jump excersise I got out of the clean run magazine.  I may have been pushing it a little too soon for Ace as he was going out a little wide and then did a spin also to get to the second jump.  Oops... BAD HANDLER!!  Better keep doing the above excersises.  <g>  I tend to get excited and do too much.  :(
Was really windy but a good time. Poor Ace has to deal with my bad handling!

The rattie girls are fitting right in.  We are starting to really bond and they love following me around when I have them out with me.  They have been with me for a week now.  I've gotten them to the point of taking food out of my hands while out of their cage!  Yey!  They love yogurt drops (looks like hershey kisses but yogurt.  :)
I can now lure Betty to follow a treat.  All of them are standing up for a treat as well.  Already making progress.  Such smarty pants.
Tonight we played our first game of 'fishing for peas'.   Wanted video but somethings wrong with my camera :(   Time for a new one or borrow my moms, lol.  but I got a few pictures.  They are definately coming out of their shell and really loving to be out and about with me.

Gerry Brown Seminar

This weekend I attended a seminar , "How to start a young dog/ foundation work"  with Gerry Brown from TX.  He was great.   First day was very rough for Ace and I.  I kept getting rude crude comments, not to mention their looks at me from 3 snobby BC woman, you know the i'm way better than you and i need to talk shit about you to make myself feel better type, well i heard them talking about me and making comments like 'don't you ever play with that dog' when the instructor was working with me to get Ace interested in tugging (he loves to tug but was very distracted) after that, which was right at the beginning, I was very upset and we had a completely horrible day.  Besides that, we worked on front and rear crosses, all ground foundation work.   I will work  on the excersises and post video.
After being completely upset about what had happened, I came home and had time to think about what had just happened.  At first I really thought that I had totally done something wrong b/c Ace wasn't wanting to work with me.  The excersises were geared towards your dog working close to you and Ace wasn't at all.  So I was blaming myself and having doubts about what I've been doing with him.  The excersises were stuff we have done before but he wouldn't do it?  After thinking about it, he was probably confused about my emotions and was reacting to that , as well as it being a new place and whole new distractions (dirt with poop in it, ect. )  Anyway, you get the idea.  Not a good day but I over came it and the next day we rocked!
Next day I told myself it was going to be a good day and it was!  I ignored those woman and totally had Ace's attention all day.
We worked on serpentines (foundation with one jump) Gerry uses Linda M method for serps.  Was way cool and totally different from anything I've ever seen or done.  Neat!  We also worked on wrapping jumps and he talked about 180's.   Petty neat and learned a lot.  I will be working on these thigns with Ace.  Hopefully very soon I can do that and get some video.
Here is a silly video of Ace and I playing around the other day.  Nothing serious, just messing around.  I haven't had Ace on any jumps or equipment in 6 months.  We took a long break but I think I am ready to gradually start doing it again , at my own speed and pace.  I'm not readyt to start agility classes yet, gonna start working a little more foundation and work up.    I shouldn't have had Ace on contacts since he doesn't have any contact behavior but.....

I've been thinking of getting a pet rat for some time  now.  Yes,  I'm weird I know.   Well today 3 girls joined my household.  I'm going to teach them some tricks & show people they are more than just rodants.  <g>  So far the dogs are a little nuts about them but I think with some training they will settle down around them.   I rescued them from a local shelter.  They are littermates and 5 months old.  I have named them Wilma (grey/white) Betty (black/white) and Pebbles (tan/white --also the smallest one of the 3)  They are very lovable and so spunky.  Betty seems to be the most social, Wilma loves to cuddle and Pebbles is already standing on her hind legs , very curious.
Here are pictures....

New Year!

Posted on 2009.01.27 at 18:46
Current Mood: content

I haven't posted in quite some time due to not having a computer for 2 months so here is my first post of the year!    Last year was a tough year so this year is about having fun and screw the rest!  I started to make a goals list and decided to forget that!  It's stressful to put that much pressure on myself to get certain things done and that's not fun for me or my dogs!
I finally found a herding instructor that I love to death in April 2008!!  She's awesome so I'm happy Ace and I can enjoy herding and learning a ton, bonding and making huge progress, our main focus is on herding this year and doing some AKC herding arena trials for kicks.  Ace is maturing nicely, we have some things to work on (reactivity) but it gets better all the time so I know we will get past it.  Pictures taken 12/8/08.  I will do some agility training with Ace but no pressure , taking it slow.  He loves learning tricks so in our spare time we will play with learning new tricks and new behaviors.

Bailey is doing great.  Was a wonderful addition to my pack in April 2008!  He turned 12 years old in October 2008.  He's healthy and happy so keeping him that way this year is a must.  :)  Bailey enjoys having a good butt rub and he loves running at the park.  So far he does not show any signs of arthritis or soreness.   He's my soul dog and the most genuine creature on this earth.  Bailey is a certified therapy dog but due to time I haven't been able to take him in quite some time.

Zoe, my wild child, had a very rough year.  Zoe is approx. 9 years old.  She has had hyper thyroid problems for several years but last year was a rough year for medical problems, luckily nothing terribly serious until 3 months ago.  She has some weird things going on with her joints,  swelling mostly and after tests and xrays .....  equaling a lot of money, the vet came up with no conclusion.  A few weeks ago the problem came back, more swelling and absess on her back leg.  Due to my financial situation i have not been able to get her to the specialist but have her on antibiotics for the absess (if that is what it is )  So far it seems to be getting better.  Hopefully we  will find out what is causing all of her problems.
Zoe is the happiest , spunkiest dog I've ever seen....oh and bossy too...  BARK BARK BARK BARK!!  Zoe's plan this year is to stay healthy and happy!

Last but definately NOT least, Heidie!  The spit fire.  Heidie turned 9 yo last year.  She's full of sugar and spice.  :)  Heidie has always just been my lap dog and she's happy being just that.  :)  Heidie loves to harrass the border collies and keep them all in line.  ha.  Everyonoe loves my little weenie dog.  <g>

So, all in all,  we are going to have fun and enjoy life together this year.  Taking each adventure as it comes.

We had our first snow in the front range today.  Only 1" but hey... we will take an inch.  It's been so dry here the last several months.
So I took the dogs to the park and let them play.  Ace is on a long lead b/c the park is not fenced and there were kids sledding on the other side of us, so for his safety and my piece of mind he had to be on a lead.  Ace did very well staying near me and the pack, paying no attention to people & dogs walking by.  He's a good boy.
Here are a couple of pictures.   I also made a video of  pics also b/c I  took so many.  :)

We had herding lessons today and Ace was a wild man.  We worked 6 head  of sheep today and he went nuts right from the start.  Rushing in, crashing the sheep, not listening to me, breaking his down , just crazy.  We moved to the small round pen today (we haven't worked in that pen for months) and he was a little better.  Cathy worked him and of course he does perfect with her.   What a brat today!  Whew, I'm exhaused.  No herding next week as Cathy will be at a trial.  Hopefully Ace will get his brain back after a little break.
Got to play with Cathy's new babies also.  They are a week old today.   Wow do they grow quickly.  They are all very beautiful and I just love them.  I wish I could have one.  :(   I can't wait to see them again in 2 weeks when their eyes are open and they are really moving around.  Fun!  4 tri's and 2 b/w.  3 females and 3 males..  Awww!!!

Not all of today was bad,  Ace learned to cross his paws this morning.  I've tried this trick for awhile and he just wasn't getting it, the concept wasn't clicking with him but this morning he just got it.  Was great to see the light go off and he figured it out pretty quickly..... or did I figure it out.  <g>
I took video but it is crappy so I'll get more later.
